Best of the Book Nook: 61 Hours by Lee Child

Lee Child has made four appearances on the program. The first time I talked to him he was on book tour and he came out to Yellow Springs for a live interview. That was 20 years ago and he was still relatively unknown. The next time I interviewed him was in 2010 and he was no longer laboring in obscurity. Lee's Jack Reacher novels routinely top the best seller lists and they sell millions of copies.

During the last year Lee announced that he's handing off the series to his brother Andrew. They just published their first book together, "The Sentinel," and it went straight to #1. The name "Lee Child" is actually a pen name. Lee''s brother Andrew Grant has now adopted the pen name "Andrew Child" as he takes over this series for Lee.

The new book is quite good but a little bit different. In honor of Lee's looming retirement I tracked down our second interview, the one from 2010, which finds Lee in his usual top form. This interview had not been in our podcast archive until now.
