This Veterans Day, the National Museum of the United States Air Force will celebrate with Veteran Talks and LEGO bricks.
Military veterans will be sharing their stories with museum guests today. They'll be stationed throughout the USAF museum, standing in front of the planes and equipment they served with.
Danielle Almeter, a public affairs specialist at the museum, says there will be “pilots, navigators, communications specialists, and engineers.”
"We are very excited because we have nearly 50 Veterans," she says. "And most of them are volunteers from our museum. The Veterans get to tell their stories, and then the public gets to hear them. So, it’s a win-win."
The museum has also been trying to find ways to engage children. So they’ve paired up with the Cincinnati LEGO User Group to put on an enormous LEGO show.
The exhibit uses over one million LEGO bricks and parts. It includes replicas of the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier and one of the museum’s most notable planes, the B-17 Memphis Belle.
The LEGOs will be on display through the weekend, but the Veteran Talks are today, Veterans Day, from 10:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.
Almeter is quick to the note that the museum has 19 acres of exhibit space, so "there's lots of room to social distance."
