University Of Dayton Making Plans To Reopen This Fall

The University of Dayton plans to reopen campus in early August. There will be plenty of new rules in place in hopes of stopping the spread of coronavirus.

The University of Dayton just released plans to reopen campus this fall.

Those plans involve big changes to campus life.

Students will be phased into campus slowly, starting in early August. Right now, the college is reconfiguring some classrooms and dining halls to allow social distancing. Masks will be required almost everywhere, except for inside student residences.

Many courses will be moved online or made into hybrid classes to create proper social distancing.

UD President Eric Spina says even with all those precautions, they expect to see cases on campus.

“We know that there are going to be cases when people arrive on campus. That’s why we have isolation housing set up. We have protocols for quarantine and so on,” Spina says. “The question is how do we respond? How do we do the contact tracing? How do we isolate them?”

Earlier this week, UD reported its first known case of Coronavirus connected to the college, which means, right now, they’re testing some of those processes for the first time.
