Dayton Metro Library Opens Northwest Branch

Jerry Kenney

On Friday and Saturday, Dayton Metro Library system will hold its grand opening of the new Northwest branch. Much of the funds for this new branch and renovation to the library's main branch downtown were made possible with the passage of a 2012 bond issue. Located at the corner of Philadelphia Drive and Hillcrest Avenue - where Fairview High School once stood, the library will serve as a cultural center of sorts, while still delivering the services traditional libraries are known for.  WYSO's Jerry Kenney recently toured the new facility with Tim Kambitsch, executive director of Dayton Public Libraries, and in this interview, Kamitsch talked about the new library and its mission upgrade. Photos of the new Northwest Library and details ofthe Friday and Saturdayeventsare below.
