Montgomery County Levies And Ballot Issues, March 2016, Plus Links To Your County

The big races ahead on March 15 includepresidential primariesand aspecial election to fill House Speaker John Boehner’s seat. And, as usual, residents will vote on a number of local options for new and additional property taxes to support roads, emergency services and schools.

Ballot issues for Montgomery County:

Library district: Wright Memorial Public Library bond issue, 34 yearsGerman Township: Road, streets and bridges, additional, 2-mill, five-year levy; Police and EMS, renewal, 5.5-mill levy

Harrison Township: Fire and EMS, renewal, 6.75-mill levy

Jackson Township: Current expenses, additional, .7-mill, five-year levy; Police and EMS, renewal, 1.8-mill, five-year levy

Jefferson Township: Fire and EMS, additional, 3.75-mill, three-year levy; Police and EMS, additional, 3.85-mill, three-year levy

Miami Township: Streets, road and bridges, additional, 2-mill, five-year levy;

Village of New Lebanon: Fire and police protection, replacement, 5-mill levies

City of Trotwood: Current expenses, renewal, 5.75-mill, five-year levy

City of Union: Streets, roads and bridges, renewal, 3-mill, five-year levy

School levies:

Kettering City School District: Permanent improvements, additional, 3.4-mill levy

Northmont City School District: Current operating expenses, additional, 5.9-mill, five-year levy

Lewis Wallace comes to WYSO from the Pritzker Journalism Fellowship at WBEZ in Chicago, where he reported on the environment, technology, science and economics. Prior to going down the public radio rabbit hole, he was a community organizer and producer for a multimedia project about youth and policing in Chicago. Originally from Ann Arbor, Mich., Lewis spent many years as a freelance writer, anti-oppression trainer, barista and sex educator in Chicago and in Oakland.
