Congratulations to my WVXU news coworkers for winning 13 awards from the Ohio chapter of the Society of Professional Journalists' 2020 Ohio's Best Journalism competition.
The Cincinnati Public Radio news team won nine first place awards, including for best radio newscast, radio website, news anchor (Maryanne Zeleznik), blog (Howard Wilkinson) and business reporting (Ann Thompson).
Reporter Tana Weingartner won four first-place awards for best radio spot news, criminal justice, minority issues and education issues reporting. She also won two of the station's four second place awards.
"We are extremely grateful to the Ohio SPJ for recognizing the hard work and professionalism of our team of journalists," says Zeleznik, news director and Morning Editionanchor. "Our daily goal is to bring our listeners the stories of our wide-ranging community with clarity, humanity and truth.
