If you visit a pool operated by the YMCA or the city of Cincinnati this summer, you'll need to schedule a reservation before arriving.
That's one safety precaution such facilities are taking as they plan to open for a summer during a pandemic.
Cincinnati Recreation Center
To make a reservation to swim, you'll need to call one of the seven of 24 CRC pools opening this summer. They include:
- Dempsey
- Dunham
- Evanston
- Hirsch
- McKie
- Oakley
- Pleasant Ridge
Reservations are limited to groups of 10. Concessions, rentals and after-hours parties are not being offered this summer.
Furthermore, indoor showers and water fountains will not be available for use. Restrooms will remain open.
The organization says it is following strict cleaning and sanitation protocols in line with recommendations from the Ohio Department of Health.
CRC will continue to release details on its website.
YMCA
Some YMCA facilities began to reopen June 1, and all branches are scheduled to reopen, some with limited offerings, by June 15.
The YMCA says it will conduct temperature checks and limit capacity. You can learn more on the YMCA's website.
The Y is reopening its pools in two phases. Here's what comes first, on June 8:
- Blue Ash
- Central
- Clippard
- M.E. Lyons
- Powel Crosley, Jr.
Swimming returns to Gamble and Highland June 15, and Clermont, Campbell and R.C. Durr will resume in July.
