Greater Cincinnati hospitals are revising visitation policies put in place at the start of the COVID-19 pandemic.
"Our hospitals recognize the need for a patient to have a support person that not only supports them, but also serves as a liaison to the family and nursing staff," a release from The Health Collaborative says.
The guidelines listed below do not apply to patients with suspected or confirmed cased of COVID-19.
Effective immediately, the following protocols are now in place across all Cincinnati area hospitals, though guidelines may vary by provider, so patients and visitors may want to confirm before arrival:
- Admitted patients may have one support person/family member accompany them.
- The visitor must remain in the patient's room and contact nursing staff when leaving.
- Patients are allowed one visitor per day.
- Visitation hours are 9 a.m. to 7 p.m.
- Visitors must be older than 15 years of age.
- Visitors are required to wear a mask that covers the nose and mouth at all times. If a visitor does not have a mask, one will be provided (exceptions will be made for those with health or disability issues.)
- Visitors must wash hands upon entering and exiting the facility.
In addition, all visitors will be screened for symptoms and exposure history.
The Health Collaborative also recommends visitors review CDC and state health department guidelines if visiting a patient of advanced age and/or with chronic medical condition and make visitation decisions accordingly.
