Fifth Third Bank is confirming multiple employees have tested positive for COVID-19. A spokeswoman for the bank says the employees are receiving medical care.
The company didn't confirm the location of the employees due to HIPAA regulations.
"Regardless of location, we have put into practice guidelines from health officials and have performed enhanced sanitizing and cleaning of the office space and common areas," Spokeswoman Laura Trujillo says. "We sent home other Fifth Third employees who might have been exposed and have asked them to self-quarantine; we are following CDC quarantine guidelines.
Employees that can work from home have been told to work remotely. Workers who aren't able to complete task remotely will receive pay, the company says. The company has reached out to co-workers who were in contact to ask them to self-quarantine.
Fifth Third is based in Cincinnati and has 1,149 full-service banking centers in multiple states including Kentucky, Indiana and Michigan.
Starting Saturday, Fifth Third will close its lobbies and will take customers by appointment only.
