The PBS anthology series American Experience returns Monday, Jan. 6 with McCarthy, which revisits the rise and fall of the Wisconsin Senator Joseph McCarthy.
His name is now synonymous with political witch hunts, based on his pursuit of identifying perceived Communists within the U.S. government and society.
McCarthy launched a chilling, high-profile campaign against those he accused of being enemies of the state.
"After years in the headlines, he was brought down by his own excesses and overreach," PBS writes in its promotional materials. "But his name lives on linked to the modern-day witch hunt we call McCarthyism."
Joining Cincinnati Edition to talk about the new film is director, editor, and writer Sharon Grimberg.
Listen to Cincinnati Edition live at noon M-F. Audio for this segment will be uploaded after 4 p.m. ET.
