Deadline reports that director Todd Haynes – who filmed Carol here in 2014 – will start production next week.

Ruffalo, the Oscar-nominated actor from Spotlightand The Kids Are All Right, will portray Bilott. The screenplay was developed from Nathaniel Rich's New York Times Magazine article, "The Lawyer Who Became DuPont's Worst Nightmare" published on Jan. 6, 2016.

In addition to Hathaway (Les Miserables, The Princess Diaries, Ocean's Eight, The Dark Knight Rises) and Robbins (Mystic River, The Shawshank Redemption, Bull Durham), the cast includes Bill Camp (Vice, Damages), Mare Winningham (American Horror Story, Mildred Pierce, Hatfields & McCoys), Victor Garber (Argo, Alias, The Flash, Legends of Tomorrow) Bill Pullman (Independence Day, Spaceballs) and William Jackson Harper (The Good Place, The Breaks).

Dry Runproducers are looking for cars for the film. They need cars from 1988 through 1999, "nothing flashy/no bright colors," according to D. Lynn Meyers casting. "We will be looking for cars throughout the shoot for Dry Run," said the Facebook post. Anyone interested was asked to send a direct message to D. Lynn Meyers Casting on Facebook "with pictures of car and of yourself."

In late December, Meyers posted on Facebook that she needed "lots of extras … for all types and ages of people" for Dry Run.

Ruffalo also is a producer on the legal drama with Participant Media and Killer Films. Participant worked with Ruffalo on Spotlight, the Academy Award-winning film about the Boston Globe investigation of children molested by priests. Participant on Sunday won Golden Globes for Green BookandRoma.

Bilott, a partner with Taft Stettinius & Hollister, sued DuPont on behalf of a West Virginia farmer in 1999. The ensuing court battle revealed DuPont's long history of chemical pollution. He was also interviewed for The Devil We Knowdocumentary which premiered at the Sundance Film Festival last year.
