Two of the three medical marijuana dispensaries in the City of Cincinnati are making preparations to open in the first quarter of next year. The other is working toward opening in the first half of 2019.

Verdant Creations will open five dispensaries in Ohio, including one in Columbia Township. Spokesman Corey Poches says Cincinnati will likely be the first in late February or early March. He says the company has talked to several cultivators in an attempt to have the best variety when it opens.

"As of right now, it's who can get you product first as well as who can get you the best variety of product. But you'll see early on, as the state had already mentioned, that it will be a little up and down in terms of availability of product."

Pharmacann is the other dispensary in Columbia Township. Spokeswoman Kate Walden says it has its own grow facility and anticipates receiving a processing license. She says Pharmacann will also purchase wholesale from other reputable growers/processors licensed in Ohio.

Damon Lynch III, an owner of Green Rx in Hartwell, hopes to be one of the first area dispensaries open. He told WVXU he is working toward a February opening.

The other four Southwest Ohio dispensaries are also in the hiring process.
