Richmond Police Department Captain Bill Shake told the Palladium-Item the "incident is over and under control."
The suspect apparently ran into the building after an incident that began away from school grounds, the paper reports. It is unclear whether he was a student at the school. A spokesman for the Indiana State Police says the suspect killed himself when he was confronted by officers, according to the Associated Press.
As a precaution, all Richmond Community Schools went on lockdown and parents were advised not to go to Dennis Intermediate School; instead, students were taken to Civic Hall at Richmond High School where parents can pick children up.
