After about 18 hours of deliberating, jurors in the Ray Tensing retrial are expected to return to the discussion room Thursday.
The former University of Cincinnati police officer is charged with murder and voluntary manslaughter for the shooting death of Sam DuBose during an off-campus traffic stop in 2015.
Tensing says he shot DuBose because he feared for his life. Prosecutors say Tensing was under no imminent threat.
His first trial ended in a hung jury after about 25 hours of deliberations.
Jurors must consider the murder charge first. If they are unable to come to a conclusion, then they may move on to voluntary manslaughter.
