On Saturday night, September 3rd at11pm, join me for the first of five one-hour specials on King Records as part of the celebration of King Records in September.

The first will be about Bull Moose Jackson, followed byWynonieHarris, Roy Brown, and two on Henry Glover.  The one on September24thhighlights Glover's career at King Records, and the other on October1stlooks at his post-King Records career.  Music historian Brian Powers has been the force behind these specials...lots of research, and he also conducted the interviews.  I produced them and added music to each program.

On Saturday, September 3rd at 11pm, the first in a series of profiles on Jump Blues artists at King who ruled the R & B charts from the late 40s and early 50s. Bull Moose Jackson, best known for Big Ten Inch, had his first big hit in 1947 with I Love You, Yes I Do, which is widely accepted as the first R &B single to sell a million copies. Jackson had 12 hits from 1946 to 1952 on the R& B chart. His daughter, Margaret Fort, legendary bassist and bandmate Jymie Merritt, and manager Carl Grefensette give first hand accounts of this overlooked artist.
