Each year in the United States, thousands of children are convicted of crimes and sentenced as adults to serve time in adult prisons.

In her latest book, Boy With A Knife: A Story of Murder, Remorse, and a Prisoner’'s Fight for Justice, prison activist and author Jean Trounstine explores the story of Karter Reed, who was convicted of second degree murder at the age of sixteen. Sentenced to life in prison, Reed served 20 years before suing the parole board and being released.

JeanTrounstinejoins us to discuss Boy With A Knife and the practice of incarcerating youth in adult prisons.

Ms. Trounstine will be in town on Wednesday, June 29 to speak at The Mercanitle Library. For information, click here
