While you've been putting the finishing touches on your Halloween costume, we've been working on special music for the holiday! The American Sound, Sunday Baroque and Essential Classics will feature spooktacular programming leading up to Oct. 31.
Host Suzanne Bona will get things off to a macabre start on Sunday Baroque with composers who died unusual or mysterious deaths. Gruesome! Hear Sunday Baroque every Sunday from 6 to 10 a.m.
Monday night's frights are courtesy of Essential Classics. Host Christopher Purdy has both tricks and treats, kicking off with William Bolcom's Graceful Ghost Rag before taking a turn to the dark side with Hector Berlioz's March to the Scaffold, Frederic Chopin’s Marche Funebre and the Danse Macabre by Camille Saint-Saens. Essential Classics airs every Monday at 7 p.m. (repeated Saturdays at 5 p.m.).
Then host Jennifer Hambrick has a soundtrack for your spooky soiree on Halloween night, complete with ghosts, goblins and a haunted forest. The American Sound presents music by Morton Gould, Edward MacDowell, Aaron Copland and George Whitefield Chadwick. Tune in to The American Sound on Tuesdays at 7 p.m. (repeated Saturdays at 6 p.m.).
