The Formosa Quartet previews "From Hungary to Taiwan" live on Classical 101 Friday at 11 a.m.

Their career spans East and West, and Friday morning it brings them to us – live on Classical 101.

The acclaimed Formosa Quartet performs live on Classical 101 Friday morning at 11.

They’ll give us a preview of “From Hungary to Taiwan,” an innovative program of new and traditional works by and inspired by Hungarian and Taiwanese composers that the Formosa Quartet will perform in Columbus Saturday, 8:00 p.m, at Columbus’ Southern Theatre on the Chamber Music Columbus series. The musicians will also talk about their newest commissioned work and other projects in the pipeline.

Hailed as, “one of the very best quartets of their generation,” the Formosa Quartet is is ensemble-in-residence with the San Diego-based Art of Élan and the faculty quartet-in-residence with the national Youth Orchestra of Canada. The musicians also serve as faculty members of the Formosa Chamber Music Festival in Taiwan.

Jennifer Hambrick unites her extensive backgrounds in the arts and media and her deep roots in Columbus to bring inspiring music to central Ohio as Classical 101’s midday host. Jennifer performed with the Chicago Symphony Orchestra and the Civic Orchestra of Chicago before earning a Ph.D. in musicology from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.
