The Bexley High School Vocal Ensemble premieres "Fragile" by Timothy C. Takach Tues., Feb. 23, 7pm, at Bexley High School's Schottenstein Theater.

It’s not every day that a high school choir gives the first-ever performance of a new work by an important composer. But for the Bexley High School Vocal Ensemble, tomorrow is that day.

Tune in to Classical 101 Tuesday afternoon at 1:30 to hear Bexley Schools choir director Amy Blosser and Timothy Takach, composer and founding member of the internationally acclaimed vocal ensemble Cantus, talk about Takach’s work as Composer-in-Residence with the Bexley Middle School and High School choirs.

We’ll also chat about how Takach came to compose his new work Fragile for the Bexley High School Vocal Ensemble, as well as the group’s premiere of the work Tuesday at 7 p.m. at Bexley High School’s Schottenstein Theater and their exciting plans to take it on the road to Chicago later this month – and, as always, we’ll hear some great music.

To whet your appetite, here’s a performance of Timothy Takach’s I Thread the Stars:
