Flutist Nancy Hadden has lived in the U.K. since the late 1970s. Born in Oxford, Ohio, Hadden grew up in the Columbus area.
She comes home Sunday, Sept. 10 to present a concert in memory of her parents, Robert and Janet Smyser Fenholt, 3 p.m. at North Broadway United Methodist Church in Clintonville. The concert is free, and everyone is welcome.
Recently I spoke to Hadden from her home in London. We talked about her parents, the upcoming concert and her life in music today:
Hadden's mother was the longtime soprano soloist at North Broadway United Methodist. Hadden followed in her footsteps, establishing herself as a solo artist, teacher and chamber musician years ago.
Her many recordings include collaborations with soprano Julianne Baird and viola da gamba player Erin Headley. Both of these artists join Hadden for the Sept. 10 concert, along with Lucas Harris on archlute and guitar. The performance features music by Johann Sebastian Bach, George Frideric Handel, Giovanni Zamboni and Nicola Matteis.
