The indefatigable Orlay Alonso, everyone's favorite Columbus-based pianist, makes his long-awaited debut with the Columbus Symphony Orchestra, 8 p.m. Thursday, July 27 at the Southern Theatre. It's an all-Mozart program, conducted by CSO music director Rossen Milanov.
Alonso will play Mozart's Piano Concerto, No. 14 in E-Flat Major, K. 499. Mozart once described this concerto as, "not like anything else; it is one of a kind."
Speaking of one of a kind, Alonso doesn't need me or anyone else to sell Mozart's Concerto. Here's part of a conversation we had earlier this week about the music:

Alonso will also be joining me for a new season of Musica Cubana, at 1 p.m. Sundays in October on Classical 101. There'll be a lot of color, plenty of fire and addictive music, and all I have to do is sit back and let Alonso tell the stories!
Meanwhile, treat yourself this Thursday night to what will be a fantastic all-Mozart concert with the Columbus Symphony Orchestra at the Southern Theatre.
