Gov. DeWine is expected to unveil his budget proposal soon.
Ohio lawmakers will then likely spend the next few months wrangling over the details, but all budgets, present and future, now have an X-factor and that is federal funding.
A memo from the Trump Administration sent many in Ohio scrambling. The memo froze every federal loan and grant program and it appeared to temporarily cut off funding for states, universities, private companies and non-profits.
The memo was eventually rescinded, but it’s intent remains. Can Ohio count on the same level of federal funding it's been used to?
Also, the new legislative sessions are fully underway and bills have begun to have hearings.
We’ll talk about some newly introduced bills, including changes to the state's marijuana law approved by voters and a plan to end the death penalty in Ohio.
