National retailers from Woolworth to Radio Shack were once staples of downtown business districts.
However, the closing of many national retailers, the pandemic and more people working from home has resulted in a lot of vacant retail space in many downtown districts.
Some believe the key to reviving downtown retail spaces could be greater support for local businesses, especially those owned by women and minorities.
