Columbus City Schools are asking voters to approve a hefty school levy. It's a big ask during tough economic times and at a time when property values are on the rise.
The Issue 11 campaign has detractors, vocal opponents who say the district hasn’t made its case.
CCS is not the only district with a levy: Dublin, Canal Winchester and Groveport Madison residents are also being asked to consider them as well during this election cycle.
But the big ask by the Columbus City Schools is garnering attention and opposition.
School finances remain a contentious issue nationwide as districts deal with growing demands for services – more mental health counselors, for example – and shrinking resources.
