The pursuit of justice is a guiding philosophy of many religions.
Many faith leaders preach about it from the pulpit and take it to the streets, ministering and rallying to help those in need.
The Rev. Martin Luther King Jr., Mahatmas Gandhi and Mother Teresa all come to mind as religious leaders whose work still resonates.
The events of the last few years, from the pandemic to social unrest to political discord, can test the bounds of faith and present opportunities and challenges for clergy.
Often it is faith leaders linked arm-in-arm with community leaders pushing for solutions to society’s ills.
But finding common ground can be dicier in these divisive political times.
