President Biden and House Speaker Kevin McCarthy met face-to-face yesterday to begin working out a deal to raise the debt-ceiling and avoid a first-ever default of the country’s debt.
The meeting comes as Republicans with their new House majority have said they want an agreement to cut government spending in exchange for voting to increase the nation’s borrowing limit.
