Tech Tuesday: Ransomware network successfully hacked by FBI officials

One of the most prolific ransomware networks in the world got a taste of its own medicine recently after the FBI successfully hacked the hackers.

It's unclear how long the group's operations will be disrupted, but for now the FBI, along with its international partners have at a minimum been able to save victims an estimated $130 million in ransom payments.

Also during this hour, ChatG.P.T. has taken the internet by storm. Five days after its release, it had garnered more than one million users.

That was apparently enough to earn Microsoft's attention who recently announced a multi-year, multi-billion dollar investment in Open A.I., the start-up behind ChatG.P.T.

Big Tech has been taking a cautious approach to AI, but the instant success of tools like ChatG.P.T. are forcing a change in strategy. That's according to Washington Post Staff writer Will Oremus.

The Justice Department and eight states last week filed a lawsuit against Google over its digital advertising business, claiming the tech giant constitutes an illegal monopoly.

It is the second antitrust suit federal authorities have brought against the company's advertising empire, which has for years been under scrutiny over allegations of self-dealing and choking off competitors.
