A global computer chip shortage has made it harder for consumers to get their hands on cars, computers and other modern-day necessities, so Congress is looking to boost chip manufacturing and research in the United States with billions of dollars from the federal government.

Building out a domestic computer chip manufacturing industry has become a priority after pandemic issues revealed supply chain glitches. But it's a messy process and requires Congress, where subsidy legislation has been stalled.

Today on All Sides we consider the benefits and the cost of a domestic chip industry for central Ohio and the nation.
