NBCUniversal paid more than one billion dollars for the rights to broadcast the 2020 Olympics, which became the 2021 Olympics. NBC saw viewership across all its platforms drop from nearly 27 million in 2016 to 15.5 million this summer.

As disappointing as that appears, in the changing landscape of television and streaming, 15.5 million is significant.

Today on All Sides with Ann Fisher we explore the changing landscape of broadcast TV and streaming.

Guests:

  • Eric Deggans, TV critic for NPR
  • Jason Mittell, professor of film and media culture at Middlebury College
  • Sean O’Sullivan associate professor of English and a core faculty member of the Film Studies Program at Ohio State University
