The Minneapolis City Council on Sunday announced plans to vote to disband the police department in response to the Memorial Day death of George Floyd.
House Democrats on Monday introduced the Justice in Policing Act that, among other things, would create a federal ban on chokeholds by police and track reports of officer misconduct.
Protests against police violence are not new, but many black leaders in Columbus and across the country say that, this time, something is different.
