The Ohio primary was delayed at the last minute due to the coronavirus. Secretary of State Frank LaRose and Gov. Mike DeWine wanted in person voting to be moved to June 2 and to have absentee voting available until then.
On Wednesday, the Ohio General Assembly unanimously passed a bill that, among other things, extended absentee voting until April 28. However, the new primary date will not include in-person voting.
Many voting rights groups object to the new plan.
