African Americans are among the most frequent users of smartphones, creating influential digital communities. That’s according to a study released this summer by the National Urban League.
However, this technology usage hasn’t resulted in an increase in jobs or equity for this community.
The National Urban League is focusing on digital empowerment for its annual conference, taking place in the Greater Columbus Convention Center.
Today on All Sides, we discuss equity in technology and how Central Ohio is working to bridge the digital divide.
Guests:
- Stephanie Hightower, president of the Columbus Urban League
- Kyle Strickland, senior legal analyst at the Kirwan Institute for the Study of Race and Ethnicity
- Angela Siefer, executive director at the National Digital Inclusion Alliance
- Will Nickley, founder, Local Tech Heroes
