A growing number of consumers are demanding more from their food providers in terms of animal welfare. The grocery store chain Kroger is one recent example, as it has announced its plans to completely transition to cage-free eggs by 2025. And while Ohio was the first state to put in place livestock care standards, some still see room for improvement.
