The Barriers

Miguel Tucker

Miguel Tucker grew up in Columbus’s South Linden neighborhood. As a kid, he spent a lot of time in the streets where having money meant getting ahead.

Money was important, but what you had to do to get it mattered less. This all changed after a few tragic years.

To break from a cycle of violence, Miguel needed to find a way to make money the legal way. Follow along as he knocks on the door of Impact Community Action, an organization that helps put people to work in the building trades.

For more information about the programs mentioned in this episode and more, check out our Resource Page.

Notes:
Miguel Tucker was recently accepted a position as the Organizing Director for the Juvenile Justice Coalition. He left the apprenticeship behind, but continues to follow his passion for youth advocacy, working to improve juvenile justice in his old neighborhood of South Linden and throughout the city.
