The General Services Administration, working with Elon Musk's Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE), has told landlords that federal agencies plan to terminate hundreds of leases this year.

Some of the offices listed in a March 10 document with lease termination dates are located in Columbus.

They include the U.S. Geological Survey and Food and Drug Administration offices, which have lease termination dates of Aug. 31, and the Small Business Administration office, which has a termination date of Sept. 30.

Also on the list are the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service office in Gahanna, with a termination date of Aug. 31, and the Mine Safety Health Administration office in Hebron, with a termination date of Sept. 30.

The locations may not close, but agencies would have to either negotiate new leases or move elsewhere if they remain open.

The pace of cancellations has raised alarms, with some agencies and lawmakers appealing to DOGE to exempt specific buildings.
