Several businesses in central Ohio are now approved to begin legal sales of marijuana.

About a dozen medical marijuana dispensaries can begin selling their products to recreational adult users of the drug starting Tuesday.

These medical dispensaries include 10 in Franklin County, one in Licking County and another in Madison County. About nine more dispensaries were approved for licenses in central Ohio but are not yet open.

The Ohio Division of Cannabis Control issued dual-use certificates of operation to the businesses on Monday. They announced the list of 98 dispensaries in the entire state that can begin selling Tuesday.

In November, voters approved statewide Issue 2 by more than 50%, which legalized recreational marijuana for adults 21 years of age or older.

Below are the 12 central Ohio businesses that will be allowed to sell marijuana starting Tuesday:

  • Amplify, 5304 N Hamilton Rd, Columbus, Ohio.
  • Bloom Medicinals, 1361 Georgesville Rd, Columbus, Ohio.
  • Curaleaf, 1150 N 21st St, Newark, Ohio.
  • The Botanist, 115 Vine St, Columbus, Ohio.
  • Herbal Wellness Center Columbus, 2950 E Main St, Columbus, Ohio.
  • The Landing Dispensary, 724 W Gay St, Columbus, Ohio.
  • Nar Reserve, 350 E Long St, Columbus, Ohio.
  • Pure Ohio London, 920 U.S. 42 W, London, Ohio.
  • Terrasana, 656 Grandview Ave, Columbus, Ohio.
  • Trulieve, 2950 N High St, Columbus, Ohio.
  • Trulieve, 8295 Sancus Blvd, Columbus, Ohio.
  • Verdant Creations Columbus, 1243 N Cassady Ave, Columbus, Ohio.

The Ohio Division of Cannabis Control said on its website that just because a dispensary has received its certificate of operation, it doesn't mean they will immediately start selling non-medical cannabis. It is up to each licensee to determine when they are ready and comfortable to start selling non-medical cannabis.

Some businesses like the Ohio Cannabis Company, Terrasana and Trulieve have confirmed to WOSU that they will begin sales on Tuesday.
