In this week's episode:
Mailing It In
This week, Wisconsin’s governor tried to call off in-person voting the day before it was to begin, but the Wisconsin Supreme Court overruled him. The U.S. Supreme Court then rejected an attempt to extend voting by mail.
President Trump recently spoke out against voting by mail, calling it "corrupt." When Gov. Mike DeWine was asked about Ohio's mail-in ballots, he called them "safe," but was careful not to directly contradict the president.
Meanwhile, all evidence points to voter fraud by mail being exceedingly rare.
Sanders Bows Out
Sen. Bernie Sanders suspended his 2020 presidential campaign Wednesday, leaving Vice President Joe Biden as the presumptive Democratic candidiate.
Sanders's name will remain on primary ballots as he hopes to gain delegates for the Democratic National Convention and help shape the party's platform.
Sander's supporters are now facing the decision of who they should back instead in November. Though many will likely support Biden, others may choose a third party candidate.
Mugwump Of The Week
The work of animator Dave Stofka went viral in a good way this week. He created an animated theme song for Gov. Mike DeWine and Dr. Amy Acton’s daily COVID-19 briefings, inspired by the opening of the 1970’s sitcom "Laverne & Shirley."
