On this week's episode:
How To Spend $69 Billion
It's 17 days late, but Ohio finally has two-year state budget signed by Gov. Mike DeWine. Lawmakers failed to meet their June 30 deadline set by the state constitution, and were forced to pass a temporary budget while debating taxes, education spending and more.
Ohioans will get a 4% tax cut, small businesses will enjoy the same tax break on their first $250,000 in earnings, and anti-abortion crisis pregnacy centers will get $7.5 million. The budget also changed the date of the 2020 primary to St. Patrick's Day and changed high schoool graduation requirements.
Two Takes On Detention Centers
Ohio's two U.S. Senators went on a road trip last weekend. Sen. Sherod Brown and Sen. Rob Portman wanted to check out for themselves what's going on with immigrants and asylum seekers crossing the border. But the Democrat and Republican came away with very different observations about what they saw, and what they didn't see.
