Guess Who's Back?
State Rep. Larry Householder was elected to serve as Ohio House Speaker, defeating incumbent Speaker Ryan Smith with the help of House Democrats. Householder previously served in the role from 2001-2004 and left under a cloud of scandal and an FBI investigation.
The Shutdown Showdown
The federal government remains shut down as President Trump insists on funding for his border wall and Democrats refuse to budge. Sen. Rob Portman says he will offer a compromise. Sen. Sherrod Brown is encouraging citizens to pressure Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell to call a vote on the bill to re-open the government.

President Trump convinced all of the networks to carry his Oval Office address on border security, but he didn't really tell the American people anything new.
