Tom Rieland
General ManagerTom Rieland has been General Manager of WOSU Public Media since 2002. WOSU serves Central Ohio’s over 2.2 million citizens with trusted public television and radio programming including the top radio news operation in Ohio.
WOSU operates and Tom leads the strategic direction of a public radio network of seven stations including 89.7 NPR News and Classical 101 and the four-channel public television station serving Columbus. WOSU has 70 staff, a budget` of $12 million and a membership topping 30,000.
Tom has a background in documentary production and television news with journalism degrees from the University of Wisconsin-La Crosse and the University of Mississippi.
Tom is in his second term on the PBS Board of Directors in Arlington, VA. and serves locally on the board of the nonprofit Gateway Film Center. He recently published a book about the early days of radio and television called Sparks Flew – WOSU’s Century On The Air published by the Ohio State Press.
WOSU Public Media will open its new headquarters at 14th and Pearl Streets in the summer of 2021 after a successful $12 million capital campaign.
