A Powell woman is in jail after allegedly asking a student to kill her husband for $2,000.

Stephanie Demetrius, 44, is charged with conspiracy, which is a first-degree felony.

Franklin County Municipal Court records said Demetrius approached a student at the Academy for Urban Scholars High School, located at 1808 E. Broad St., on March 26 about killing her husband.

The student received $250 as a down payment.

Records said a phone call was recorded between the student and Demetrius, where Demetrius said the remaining payment was not a worry.

Demetrius noted when the children would be out of her husband's house and that he worked from home, according to court records.

Demetrius appeared in court on Thursday morning. She is being held at the Franklin County Jail.
