A Franklin County judge delayed the murder trial, scheduled for July, of Blendon Township police officer Connor Grubb.
Grubb shot and killed 21-year-old Ta'Kiya Young and her unborn child in the parking lot of a Kroger grocery store in 2023, while he was on duty. Young was accused of shoplifting from the Kroger located on South Sunbury Road. Grubb stood in front of her vehicle and shot Young within 30 seconds of approaching the vehicle.
Court records show Grubb's defense asked for more time last month before the jury trial. A Franklin County judge approved the request this week and scheduled a hearing for 9 a.m. on May 21 to set a new trial date.
Montgomery County prosecutors Erin Claypoole and Daniel Brandt are handling the case. Grubb is being represented by defense attorneys Kaitlyn Stephens and Mark Collins.
Grubb is on paid leave from the Blendon Township Police Department.
