Franklinton Prep High School students were sent home early Friday after two lockdowns, the second of which was caused by a shot being fired into the building.
Franklinton Prep Enrollment Specialist Javlin Robinson said students and staff were safe and no one was hurt.
Robinson said the first lockdown happened around 8:50 a.m. when a suspicious person got into the adjacent building, Youth for Christ.
That lockdown was lifted about 10 minutes later, according to Robinson. The school then went into lockdown again around 9:20 a.m. for "shots fired."
"It came through our office," Robinson said, adding that the office was on the second floor.
She said it's not clear if the incidents were related. Robinson said she had heard that the suspicious person at Youth for Christ was unarmed.
Columbus police had no information on a suspect, but listed the first event as a "burglary" at 40 Chicago Avenue, which is the address for Youth for Christ.
Police reported that no one was hurt.
Students were sent home around 11:30 a.m.
Franklinton Prep is a drop-out credit recovery high school with about 250 students between the ages of 15 and 21.
