The estate of a woman who died two years ago in the Franklin County Jail has sued the company providing medical care at the facility.
The wrongful death suit, filed March 17 in Franklin County Common Pleas Court, said Gierra Perdue died needlessly under the watch of the Armor Health of Ohio medical staff.
The suit claims Perdue was arrested on March 9, 2023 and taken to the jail on Jackson Pike. The suit said she was detoxing after using narcotics.
Perdue was placed on a safety watch requiring the Armor Health staff to check on her every about 10 minutes.
Two staff members charted they had completed 42 safety checks on Perdue during the hours between of March 16-17, according to the suit.
The suit also claims that document detailing the safety checks was falsified.
Perdue was found dead in the early morning hours of March 17, 2023.
The suit alleges Armor Health staff also tried to destroy the original documentation.
The suit is asking for at least $25,000 in damages.
WOSU left a message with Armor Health at its Miami headquarters for comment.
Officials from the Franklin County Sheriff's Office said they didn't have any more information to provide.
