Gahanna Lincoln High School closed on Wednesday because of a gas line break at the high school construction site.
Mifflin Township Fire Chief Brian Dunlevy told WOSU a construction crew hit a gas line while digging a ditch at the site of the new high school the school district is building.
That site is behind the current high school on Hamilton Road.
The school district said the high-pressure gas line ruptured about 7:45 a.m. Havens Corners Road was briefly closed between Helmbright and Hamilton roads.
Dunlevy said Columbia Gas shut off the gas.
Students who arrived at the building for classes were sent home. Those who were on buses were taken home.
The high school is expected to reopen for class Thursday.
