Columbus police say Nalah Jackson is charged with two counts of kidnapping after stealing a vehicle near a Donato's Pizza restaurant in the Short North that had two 5-month-old twin boys inside.

The Columbus woman who kidnapped infant twins outside a Short North restaurant in late 2022 has been sentenced to more than 23 years in prison.

Nalah Jackson was sentenced Tuesday in federal court. She had pleaded guilty in February to two counts of kidnapping a minor.

"Today's sentence represent the serious and significant nature of harm Jackson caused to these children and our community," U.S. Attorney Kenneth Parker said in a statement.

Jackson, now 26, stole a vehicle outside a Donato's Pizza on North High Street in December 2022 with five-month-old twins Kasan and Ky'air Thomas inside.

Ky'air Thomas was later safely recovered after he was left in the parking lot at the Dayton International Airport. Kasan Thomas was found safe near a Papa John's restaurant in Indianapolis.

Ky'air Thomas later died from unrelated causes in January 2023. The Franklin County Coroner's Office said he had been placed face down on a bed surrounded by pillows and blankets.
