Chance Harbor is accused of biting off part of a security guard's ear at the Columbus Greyhound bus terminal after becoming involved in an altercation.

A man was arrested Thursday for allegedly biting off part of a security guard’s ear at Columbus’ Greyhound Bus terminal on North Wilson Road.

Chance Harbor, 27, of Columbus, is charged with felonious assault.

The security guard claims Harbor was drinking a beer and acting aggressively toward a woman and children accompanying him. The guard asked Harbor to leave several times, then tried to physically remove him. Authorities say the two men fought, and Harbor bit off the lower part of the guard’s right ear.

The security guard was taken to Doctors West Hospital along with the severed part of his ear.

Harbor was arrested at a nearby gas station.

Court documents say Harbor admitted to drinking alcohol, but claimed he only fought the security guard, because he felt like he was being attacked. Harbor said a second man with a knife helped the guard.

The Greyhound Bus terminal has been plagued with legal troubles as city officials point to what they say is a repeated pattern of crime.

The Greyhound and Barons Bus terminal has been the source of backlash from customers and neighbors since it opened. The terminal faced legal challenges from the city as officials claim it’s not safe nor suited to mass travel. In October, a man was killed in a shooting at the terminal.
