A former Ohio State University quarterback has pleaded guilty to a drug charge.
Franklin County Common Pleas records show Art Schlichter, 63, pleaded guilty Wednesday to one count of possession of cocaine.
He was arrested in June 2022 after being found unresponsive outside of a Central Ohio hotel and revived with Narcan.
As part of entering the guilty plea, Schlichter was sentenced to one day in jail and one year of probation.
He will also be placed on basic supervision, which means he will be required to maintain contact with a legal official.
This is not Schlichter's first offense. His NFL career was derailed by a gambling addiction in the 1980s. He also pleaded guilty in 2011 to stealing thousands of dollars from people for bogus college and NFL football tickets. He was released from prison in 2021.
One of Schlichter's victims was Anita Barney of Dublin, the widow of former Wendy's CEO Robert Barney. She pleaded guilty to two felony theft counts for her own involvement in Schlichter's crimes.
