Columbus Public Safety Director Robert Clark will be leaving his position to pursue a new job in Philadelphia.

Mayor Andrew Ginther announced Tuesday that Clark, who joined the City of Columbus in 2021, will become Vice President of Public Safety at the Philadelphia Housing Authority.

Ginther, in an email, stated Clark helped implement "historic" police reforms and oversaw the recruiting and hiring of a record number of police officers and firefighters. Clark brought 35 years of experience in local, federal, and international law enforcement.

Clark's last day with the city will be April 15.

Ginther says the city will announce plans to appoint a new public safety director in the coming weeks.
