The Franklin County Coroner's Office has released the autopsy results for an infant boy who died on January 30. The death occurred over a month after he was the subject of a statewide Amber Alert in December along with his twin brother.
The immediate cause of death for Ky'Air Thomas was listed as "sudden unexplained infant death," according to the coroner's report. A contributing factor listed on the report was an "unsafe sleep environment." The report also states the baby was placed face down on an adult bed and was surrounded by "excess pillows and blankets."
Thomas' actual manner of death was listed as undetermined.
Columbus police officers responded to a home on a report that Ky'Air Thomas was not breathing. The boy was taken to Nationwide Children's Hospital where he was pronounced dead.
Police identified Thomas as one of the twin boys who was the subject of a December Amber Alert. Thomas and his twin brother, Kason, were abducted while they were inside a running vehicle as their mother went to pick up food inside a Short North pizza restaurant.
Ky'Air was found hours later in a parking lot near the Dayton International Airport. Kason was found on Dec. 22 in the stolen vehicle which was abandoned in Indianapolis.
Nalah Jackson was arrested on kidnapping charges and was later indicted on two federal counts of kidnapping of a minor for taking the vehicle with the two boys inside.
